When customers want to implement SharePoint, I think of it as such a flexible platform, that it is not an infrastructure project, but more like a software project. So planning is very important in order to have a successful SharePoint implementation. ExtraTeam has a very robust process to bring customers through a SharePoint project, including:  requirements planning with stakeholders, designing functionality and capabilities, implementation and ramping IT department to deploy and finally, defining success criteria for project completion. This helps to ensure we have a happy customer because the SharePoint project completes on time, within scope and on budget.

The future of video in business communications will be video conferencing between people on-the-go using their mobile devices. It creates similar challenges to Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD), but what the future holds for video is employees connecting from anywhere-to-anywhere using their iPhone, IPad, Android for video conference meetings.

Secure Video Communication Using Cisco VCS

Cisco’s Video Communication Server ( Cisco VCS) has two very nice features. First, it provides core network firewall administration techniques that streamlines video communications securely through the firewall between internal and external video endpoints. This prevents network perimeter firewalls from becoming ‘Swiss Cheese” security risks. Second, the Cisco VCS also acts as a Proxy or traversal zone between H23 and SIP devices, so users are not tied down to having only H23 or SIP devices—making network video communications more flexible and easy.

ExtraTeam helps many customers with Unified Communications implementations and one topic that repeatedly comes up is SIP Trunking. SIP Trunking takes ‘Voice” and puts it on the internet (IP networks). There are many benefits to SIP Trunking including scalability, flexible solution, failover and disaster recovery. Installing SIP Trunks to replace original phone lines is one way companies can leverage their investments in IP-PBX systems.

ExtraTeam Opens New York Metro Office as Part of Strong Growth Strategy

Because technology never stops changing, being in the business of IT and infrastructure support is good. ExtraTeam’s focus has been in all the sweet spots where customers have needs and questions, to which we have answers. Our conversations are usually about one of the following: unified communications, data centers, SharePoint development, mobile, security, collaboration, video, telepresence, and of course, ongoing maintenance and support. Hard work is still essential to survive as the fittest and in our case, it’s resulted in very healthy year-over-year growth at ExtraTeam. Over the last year our growth rate reached 41% in revenues and hundreds of new customers. We think this is something to shout about and more importantly, leverage into a business advantage. So, we’ve expanded and set up shop on the east coast.

Our customers’ needs for broader geographic coverage has played a key role in our expansion into the New York Metro area. Placing tenured engineering and support resources locally has enabled ExtraTeam to not only provide critical services deeper within existing customers’ businesses, but also attract new companies seeking IT infrastructure support services. And, we like that. It takes talent to land in a new area and capture momentum right from the start. Our east coast talent is based in New Jersey and is led by one of our best network architects—Jeff Lefkowitz. Jeff is Cisco-certified (CCIE) and specializes in networking and security projects with experience in a variety of technologies, including routing, switching, content services, data center virtualization, SharePoint deployment, host based IPS and VOIP.
